Hallo, Hej, Gidday! I’m an Industrial designer born and bred in the South Island of New Zealand. I’ve always enjoyed making things, taking things apart and exploring the outdoors. Several years later, this curiosity has lead me to the other side of the world where I am now pursuing a MFA in Advanced Product Design in Umea, Sweden.

As I develop an interdisciplinary approach, what I find most rewarding  is understanding people. True insight fuels ideas, pushes boundaries and allows us to create meaningful experiences that improves the world around us, for the people around us.

VERIFY - DRUG SCANNING + VERIFICATION TOOL

Verify is a handheld tool that assists paramedics when administrating drugs. It helps prevent medication error within pre-hospital care caused by confusing and frustrating labels, while providing reassuring and streamlined access to supporting drug information when desired. No matter what experience level, or what unexpected situation, Verify ensures paramedics are supported to make quick and well informed decisions while removing any uncertainty.

 

In addition, Verify reduces manual input in stressful situations by automatically recording and uploading treatment information to the patient’s journal and hospital inventory system, allowing paramedics to focus on what is truly important - their patients.

PYTHON - INDOOR ROCKCLIMBING DRILL

We were challenged to redesign and build a working screwdriver, while considering existing components, manufacturability, brand values and time constraints. The process involved:

 

-Dismantling and studying existing screwdrivers

-Selecting a brand and analyzing their design

  language

-Creating a beneficial 'function-x' that brings value

-Forming a detailed CAD assembly and considering

  injection molding restraints; such as wall

  thickness, draft angles, split lines and existing

  components.

-Rapid prototyping and assembling a working model

-Recording 'Billable' hours and developing

 Solidworks  knowledge

BLOOM - INDOOR GARDENING SYSTEM

Ideal for herbs, small plants and salad garnishes, Bloom is a table top alternative that brings gardening into your home. Utilizing Infra-red technology it monitors your plants health, tracks growth and keeps you up to date. Bloom also takes care of your plants by providing automated lighting and watering through a convenient ‘drip feed’ system, reassuring owners their plants will live a long and productive life.

 

In addition, Bloom can be used individually or together in the ‘Bosch hub’, allowing multiple devices to playfully share resources and be arranged in unique patterns. It can be used to grow both from seeds and prolong the life of existing or grown plants.

REVOLVE - DIGITAL SHOWER CONTROLS

Revolve is a playful alternative to traditional shower controls. Divided into three levels, each user can precisely adjust water flow, temperature and the period they intend to shower for. By using time as the activation control (as well as pause) users are pleasantly reminded how long they have been showering for, and afterwards how many liters of water were used.

 

This helps increase the awareness

of everyday water consumption while encouraging people to save water!

TRAVERSE - SAFER RIVER CROSSINGS

Rivers are one of the greatest hazards in our outdoors. The New Zealand Mountain Safety Council suggests “on average there are 3 river crossing deaths a year in New Zealand”. With “70% of tramping related injuries involving trips, slips or falls”.

 

Intended for trampers and hunters, the Traverse coupling handle design can be used as individual trekking poles or a hand-made 2m fording pole to help cross rivers, creeks and side streams. The process of connecting each handle together intentionally takes several seconds. It makes users stop, concentrate and think twice before deciding whether too cross. This helps promote the awareness of safety within hiking and encourages safer decision-making.
